Habitat
Now with the Pickens Plan we CAN
become more involved with our country and finally get some positive
changes made so that we can become energy self sufficient utilizing
clean and renewable forms of energy! I urge you to become involved
and help make America a great country again! Please visit my page on
the Pickens Plan to learn more.
I am furthermore thrilled and encouraged by the organization called
Green for All. This organization is helping to train a new
generation of workers for "green collar jobs" which will finally get
us into the 21st Century of clean renewable energy sources that are
domestically produced. Yeah! Please visit my section on
Green for All on the renewable
energy page in this habitat section for more information.
I especially realize that our government has become corporate
run and that laws are being enacted to protect big business, not the
American people and definitely not the animals and the environment.
I have spent years writing to legislators on environmental issues
and how our dependence on fossil fuels has a direct correlation to
terrorism. These are all ideas that I wanted to share with you. I have not felt that I live in a
democracy. While no true democracy exists on our planet, the
republic government of the United States was set up to be
close to it and was supposed to represent the individual
citizens, not the corporations that are in effect running
the country and lining the pockets of our representatives,
whether they are local, state or federal. Our massive
environmental destruction starts at the local level where developers
are given the green light by commissioners to build more unnecessary
strip malls and houses. State governments favor developers over
animals and their habitat and the Federal government allows more and
more animals to be taken off the endangered species act that should
be left on, paving the way for their ultimate demise while allowing
corporate America to pave over their habitat.
The
George W. Bush administration has
done more to damage our environment than any other administration in the
history of our country. It is not all his fault though, the Congress
is responsible for reversing laws that were set in place to
protect us from environmental hazards. They are just as culpable as
the president. Most Americans are too busy
to notice or too apathetic to care. Lobbyists continue to line the
pockets of legislators because our representatives are corrupt and
greedy and we don't go to the polls in protest to boot them out of
office. But don't think the mostly current Democratic House and
Senate of Congress will actually do any better
than the Republicans. We can blame the president and the Congress, our state and
local "leaders" all we want, and we every right because they fail
us, but the ultimate failure is with the American people because we
tolerate it. Be sure to get your voices heard by not just writing
and calling your
representatives,
but demanding they TAKE ACTION on the issues that are important to
you and to the country! There are many vitally important
issues facing the United States today such as habitat destruction,
environmental pollution, use of fossil fuels and how it relates to
terrorism, global warming, species extinction, etc. Be a participant
in our government instead of on the sidelines. Don't let corporate
America run the White House and the Congress!
I've also added another new page - on working from home. I've
been blessed to work from home since 1995 - that is quite a
long time now - and over the years I've realized several positive
aspects relating to the environment that I wanted to share. So learn
more about visiting my page on working
from home.
The words of
Thomas Jefferson are more true today than
when he first spoke them: “We in America do not
have government by the majority. We have government by
the majority who participate.”
Ben
Franklin was asked the question “Well doctor,
what have we got - a republic or a monarchy” upon
leaving Independence Hall at the close of the
Constitutional Convention in 1787. His reply, “A
republic, if you can keep it.” According to
Jefferson the American people have not kept it.
